Presenter Information
All of us get better when we share our practices with one another for our students!
Our primary focus this year is on well being, quality instructional practices and student engagement.
We need you to share your practice by leading a breakout session with fellow educators around one of the above focus areas. Sessions may include one or more adult presenters. Please consider including student presenters as a way of bringing the student voice into our conference.
Please use this link to register to become a presenter at OCEP.
Mark Your Calendars - Oakland County Council for Diversity, Equity and Social Justice Meeting
In support of the vast and growing needs around diversity, equity and inclusion in Oakland County schools and communities, we are launching the Oakland County Council for Diversity, Equity and Social Justice. This council will serve as a county-wide referent group consisting of educational leaders from our 28 partnering districts. The goal of this group is to assist our districts with building and sustaining their internal capacity to lead diversity, equity and social justice work in their respective districts (including professional learning for staff, establishing building and district-level equity teams, hiring practices, etc.) We're also planning to host annual events at the county-level to support our efforts; such as conferences related to this work for staff, students, and families/communities.
Please join us for an informational meeting on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Oakland Schools (Conference Rm. C). We’re asking each district to send two representatives who have the passion and capacity to lead and support this work in your district. We would like for at-least one of these representatives to be a district-level administrator.
If you have any questions regarding this meeting or the council itself, don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Jay B. Marks at Oakland Schools at Jay.Marks@oakland.k12.mi.us or 248.209.2416. To RSVP for this event, please e-mail the names, position, district, and e-mail address of your representatives to Jennifer Baxter at Jennifer.Baxter@oakland.k12.mi.us .
Thank you for your time and attention to this invitation, and we hope your district will join us as we work collaboratively to support diversity, equity and social justice in Oakland County.
