PVE Reading Movement in October
In the month of OCTOBER we'd love to know more about the characters you are reading about. Here are the ways you can show us:
--Decorate a pumpkin with your favorite character. Bring it to school for display. The top 3 votes in K-2 and the top 3 votes in 3-5 win a prize!!
--Sketch or write about your favorite character. ALL work will be displayed in the main hallway.
As a campus we are working on reading with fluency and expression and understanding what we read. Our reading challenge this year will be a little different so stay in touch so you know what how you will participate!
Parent Survey Feedback
Thank you so much for taking the time to fill out our parent survey! We hear you and we will do our best to make the following changes:
- Offer more information about events
- Have events where you can see your student's work
We know that several of you said Tuesdays are not a good time for you to come to school events. Unfortunately, we cannot change that. Tuesdays across the district are the designated night for school events. However, we will make our events "come and go" so that if you can't make it until later in the evening on Tuesdays, you aren't missing everything. And if you need to leave early to get your kids in bed, you don't have to stay the whole time. Please feel free to join us at any time during all of our events!
Check it out.... It's SOCKTOBER @ PVE!
During the month of October, PVE is collecting socks to donate to a local shelter. Our goal is 300 new pairs of socks to help men, women, and children who do not have basic essentials to keep warm in the winter. Help us meet our goal by bringing new socks and placing them in the “Socktober” collection box in front of the library. Thanks for helping those in need!
For more information on Socktober, visit the official Socktober website http://soulpancake.com/socktober/.
Together, we are going to do something awesome!
Veteran's Day Pictures Wanted
If you would like to send a picture to honor a Veteran in our slide show at our Veteran’s Day Program on Nov. 11th please email them in jpeg format to Mrs. Nassiff by Nov. 1st. If you sent in pictures last year or previous years, I still have them so you don’t need to send them again unless you are sending one for a different person.
Please include the person's first and last name, branch of service, years of service, student's name and their relationship to student.
Important Notice about ride changes
Please note that our conference time is at 8:00 in the morning. Sometimes this is the only time during the day we can check our emails. If you send an email with important information about ride changes that day, please include email@example.com and/or firstname.lastname@example.org. This will guarantee we get the information in time. Thank you for your help in this matter.
The 5th Grade Teachers
Language Arts- I hope everyone had a great three day weekend. This week in Language Arts we will be finishing our DBQ. We have been learning about three reasons why so many colonists died during early Jamestown and this week we will put our ideas down onto an essay. Your kids have been working very hard looking at 5 documents and coming up with their reason why they died. I am really excited to see what they think happened.
Math- We will be diving into 4 digit by 3 digit multiplication this week. Our learners will review and extend a variety of strategies learned in fourth grade. We will complete this instruction with the multiplication algorithm. The end of the week will conclude with our introduction to volume.
Science- We will continue our studies of forces. Friction and gravity will be our focus.
