Water Conservation
By Kaitlyn Metler
Summary
Water is a precious thing. We need to take shorter showers. The difference between 5 mins to 10 is that you us 20 more gallons. “A leaky faucet can waste 100 gallons a day.” That was from http://www.sscwd.org/tips.html. That is a lot of water and from the same website is says, “If every household in America had a faucet that dripped once each second, 928 million gallons of water a day would lead away. Only 1% of the earths water is water that we can drink. In 2013 there were 36 states that were having water shortages. That is 72%. So about 30% of the fresh water supplies are lost due to leakage is all the developed countries. In the major cities it can have 40% to 70% of water loss. If you still want live then we need to conserve water.
Plan
Positive Reinforcement Brainstorm:
*If we take shorter showers we can save almost 20 gallons.
*Turn it off.
*A hand turning off a faucet.
*If you are done with a bucket of water see if you can use it in another way.
*If you water your lawn 2 times a week for a longer time you actually save water and your plants and grass are stronger and better.
Negative Reinforcement Brainstorm:
*Picture of faucet dripping.
*If a faucet in a house is leaky it can waste 100 gallons a day.
*If you keep the water running when you brush your teeth you can waste 5 gallons.
*A hose on and not being used.
*Don’t be the one wasting water.
