Mohandas Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat. Mohandas as a kid was shy, soft-spoken, and only a mediocre student. At the age of 13, Mohandas married Kasturba in an arranged marriage. Mohandas went to London to study to become a barrister.
Jobs
After finishing school, Mohandas took a job at an Indian law firm in Durban, South Africa. He was appalled by how Indian immigrants were treated and joined the struggle to obtain basic rights. In 1931, Mohandas attended the Round Table Conference in London, as the sole representative of the Indian National Congress, but resigned after 3 years in protest at its non-violence as a political expedient.
Death and famous for
Mohandas Gandhi was assassinated in Delhi on January 30, 1948. He was buried at Raj Ghat and associated memorials, India. He was known through out the world as a political leader, writer, philosopher, teacher, inspiration, and is considered the father of his country.
