•• New & Important Information ••
Semester 1 Report Cards
With the end of Semester 1/Quarter 2 this past Friday, Report Cards will be available for your viewing soon. Teachers are hard at work providing grades for our students and writing comments about each of our learners. These report cards provide more detailed grades for students in all academic areas, provide updates from PE and Music, and provide information about your child's learning behaviors. Our teachers of Special Education will also be providing updates on student's IEP goals, as well.
This is a reminder that all progress reports and report cards will be viewed online via ParentVue this year. If your child receives supports through Special Education, those will be printed and sent home with students on Friday, February 2. All report cards will be available online in ParentVue by Monday, February 5. If you still need help accessing your ParentVue account, please reach out to Sarah or Teri in the front office. If you have questions about your child's progress or anything noted on the report card, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Friday, February 9 has been set as an Early Release day for Elementary Conferences. We will dismiss at 12:40 PM. These conferences are not intended for each student, but for specific students. If your student is still working on meeting standard behaviorally or academically, your teacher may ask to meet with you during this afternoon. You may also request a conference with your teacher, as well.
We look forward to celebrating your student's progress with you.
PACE Application Deadline For The 2024-2025 School Year
PACE (Parents Active in Cooperative Education), a choice educational enrichment program offered through the Northshore School District, is currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. All applications are due prior to the February 8th PACE lottery drawing deadline, and a site tour is required prior to application.
The hallmarks of PACE include an enhanced educational experience due to high parent involvement, enrichment activities, encouragement for students to become self-motivated learners and a strong sense of community among families. Families commit to a minimum number of volunteer hours per year of program support. PACE is located at three elementary school sites in the district with feeder patterns from all Northshore elementary schools.
A tour is required prior to applying to the PACE program. To register for a site tour hosted by PACE at Wellington Elementary, please email enrollment@PACEWell.org.

Smart watches and cell phones during school
We have noticed a big increase in students who have cell phones or smart watches at school. Students have been receiving texts or messages on their devices and this is a distraction to their learning.
If you choose to send your child with a cell phone, it must stay in the backpack and be turned off/silent at all times while at school. If a student needs to make a call during the day, they should talk to their teacher to do this. If a parent or family member needs to contact a student, they should do so through the office, not the student’s cell phone or smart watch during the school day. Recording/video devices are not allowed at school. School phones are available in all classrooms and the school office.
Cell-phone capable watches may not be used for phone calls or texting during the school day. If the watch is just used as a watch, it may be used, but there should not be texting or calls made or received during the school day.
Kindergarten Registration for 2024-2025 opens January 8!
Dear Northshore Families and Prospective Families:
New student enrollment, including Kindergarten, for the 2024-25 school year begins on January 8, 2024. Families who have students currently enrolled in a Northshore school this school year do not need to re-enroll, but we would appreciate it if you would please share this information with friends, family, and neighbors who may have new students.
Enrollment is completed online. Directions on how to enroll, including what documentation is required, can be found on the District enrollment webpage. The webpage will be updated on January 8 to reflect 2024-25 enrollment.
By enrolling in early January for the 2024-25 school year, there are a number of benefits:
- Connection to your child’s school community including information about school tours and Kindergarten events; and
- Early enrollment helps the district correctly staff classrooms, services, and prepare for great learning environments for our students.
Choice School applications will open on January 22, 2024 for all students. In addition to excellent neighborhood schools, Northshore offers a variety of choice schools and programs. A choice school may be exactly what your child needs to thrive academically and socially. Students will be invited to apply directly to our Choice Schools. To learn more about Northshore’s Choice School options visit our Choice School webpage.
If you need help enrolling your child or children for school, please contact your child’s future school for enrollment information and support. Your neighborhood school is based on your home address. You can find your child’s neighborhood school by using the Address Look Up Tool.

School Closure Make-up Days
Last week’s weather related school closures on Wednesday, Jan. 17 and Thursday, Jan. 18 will need to be made up later in the school year.
The school make-up days will be May 24 and June 25, 2024. These make-up dates are communicated in the 2023-24 calendar.
There have been some suggestions to schedule the Friday, May 24 make-up day as early release, because we closed schools on Wednesday, Jan. 17, which would have been an early release day. Before making a final decision with our labor partners, the Superintendent wants to make sure we don’t have any additional school schedule changes in February. The dismissal times for each make-up day will be communicated in early March.
