What is wind, and what causes it

  • Wind is sideways movement of air. the air always moves from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure.
  • Wind is caused by differences in air pressure.

What are Local winds, and what causes it ?

  • Local winds are winds blow over a short distance
  • It's cause by unequal heating of earth of earth's surface within small areas.
  • An example of local winds is: Land breeze, and sea breeze

  • A land breeze is a local wind that blows from the land over a lake or ocean. A land breeze occurs at night.
  • A sea breeze is a local with that blows from an ocean over land. A sea breeze occurs at daytime.

what are Global winds and how are they created ?

Global winds is a wind that blows steadily over long distances. It's caused by the uneven heating of Earth's surface, which sets convection currents in motion.

Types of global winds

  • Trade winds are global wind that blow in the northern hemisphere toward the equator from 30 degrees north latitude
  • Jet streams are high winds that blow at the top of the troposphere
  • The prevailing easterlies blow from the poles and curve eastward
