Thanksgiving Celebration

Today we came together as a Faith community and celebrated all of the many blessings that God has bestowed upon us.

The Grade 1A and 1B classes lead the celebration today. As part of our schoolwide social justice project this month, our community received $550 from the families at JPI for families in need. We thank you for your generosity!

We wish all of you a safe and happy Thanksgiving full of all of God's love.

READ IN WEEK

This week our students engaged in many activities that celebrate the gift of reading and literature. We had some remote visitors read to us! The Edmonton Public Library did a remote presentation for all the students. As well, on Friday, MLA Christina Grey read to both Grade 6 classes!

Senora Figueroa and Mr. Wawkrykowicz planned a fun filled week with virtual guest readers, book trivia, door decorating and ending up with dressing up as your favorite book character.

Below are some photos that capture the fun!

STAY INFORMED

Hello parents & guardians! Did you know you no longer have to wait for a report card to find out how your child is learning at school? Find out how to track your child' progress by watching this video. To learn more about assessment and reporting in Edmonton Catholic Schools, please visit the ECSD website. If you have questions specific to your child's learning and progress, please contact your child's teacher.

We at John Paul I acknowledge and continue to learn....

We continue to learn and grow in our understanding so that we see reconciliation. Our students and staff continue on this journey by dedicating time to build a stronger understanding through stories. As well, we pray for a nation that represents the values of Indigenous Peoples and provides truth, justice, peace, unity and equity for all.

As we honoured Truth and Reconciliation Week, we know that our learning must continue throughout the days, weeks and months ahead. Our staff and students show their commitment to continue learning this week.

School Fees and Bus Pass Fees

All fees can be paid online through PowerSchool or in the office. We thank you for your support with this.

Assessment and Reporting

In Edmonton Catholic Schools, we report to parents and students on an ongoing basis. Gone are the days when parents and students would have to wait for a report card to come out just three times a year. We use a gradebook program that integrates with PowerSchool, called PowerTeacher Pro, into which teachers input assessment information as it happens. Parents and students are encouraged to check PowerSchool “Grades and Attendance” regularly to keep up to-date on student progress. If your child is on an individualized program plan, please check the IPP for updates regarding student progress.
