Safety
HRHS will be having a Lockdown Drill at 10:00 am on November 6. Take a minute to review the following guidance from the Massachusetts State Police.
Do quick peeks and call in any students from the hallway.
Lock and close doors promptly.
Ensure that the students are staged in the room’s safe spot in a posture that they can move from readily (ie: not jammed under desks, etc).
If possible, at least one teacher per room should be on their feet and in closer proximity to the door.
Turn off all sources of light (including powerpoints/projectors/etc).
Close the blinds and shades (where available) and close and lock the windows.
Take attendance (if circumstances permit).
Once you are cleared by an administrator or police officer, remain in your classroom and keep all students out of the hallways, but you may resume teaching.
Remain vigilant.
Be ready to MOVE!
Be ready to ACT!
Constantly RE-ASSESS your circumstances!
For Your Information & Action:
3rd Floor Teacher Work Room: The 3rd floor teacher work room will be temporarily closed. During this time, the copier will be in room 3009 (directly next door). Teachers can use the library teacher work room for the refrigerator and sink.
Paperwork for Central Office: All paperwork for anyone in Central Office should go in the Central Office mailbox opposite Kristen's door. They are required to timestamp documents as they are received, so putting this in the general box would allow this to happen in an efficient way.
MCAS Scholarships:
The seniors listed below will be given passes to the library for Thursday during advisory time--please do NOT congratulate them on these scholarship opportunities until AFTER 10:30 on Thursday!
27 seniors have been awarded the John & Abigail Adams Scholarship.
33 seniors are eligible to apply for the Koplick Scholarship.
Reminders
Staff Shout Outs!
Thank you to Jesse Porter-Henry who will teach chemistry for the remainder of this school year. While this was not an easy decision to make, Jesse is committed to making sure that our sophomores and juniors are prepared for chem. 2 and for college.
Responsibility and Perseverance:
Shout out to Starr Adams who always goes above and beyond for students and staff. Starr has an amazing work ethic and is a wonderful example to us all.
Collaboration and Engagement:
Shout out to Chris Herzog! He cut a piece of hardboard for a student and made sure it was just what she needed for the special project that she has in mind. She was shy about asking yet his happy manner put her at ease. This kindness made her day!
Respect and Compassion:
Thank you to Tara Winters and Erin Mahon-Moore for going above and beyond and always putting kids first.
Student Spotlight
Juniors of the Week: Greg Reynold's entire French 4 class had debated large vs. small businesses 100% in French this past week. They each prepared their own arguments and had to come up with a rebuttal on the spot!
Sophomore of the Week: Eli Touchette is always kind, friendly, and polite to everyone. He works hard in all of his classes, including many honors and AP classes, and is a member of the cross country team for the first time this year!
Freshman of the Week: Ellie Meunier created and presented an excellent project in history this past week. She works tirelessly in all of her classes and joined the cross country team this year. She is always respectful of teachers and other students!
