News from Mrs. Beverly
We have a busy end of the year planned for our Bryn Mawr learners. Even though there are many fun end of the year events, it is still important that our students are on their best behavior and the brains and hearts are still in “school mode.” Our little learners have grown so much this year, and we are so proud of their effort. It is important that they continue to finish the year strong.
Developing a love for reading and literacy is our goal. We see our students entering kindergarten working on letter identification, which develops into sounds, into blending and segmenting words, to recognizing sight words, and now as they are second graders working on reading fluency and comprehension skills. They become readers before our eyes!
Each week we have PBIS incentives for students that have earned 10 or more positive penguins. These change weekly and include an option for a tangible or an activity based adventure such as drum club, extra recess, art project, karoake, chalk drawing, or a dance party. Usually I will plan a "Principal's Surprise" activity as an option each week. Linked below is a Nonfiction Butterfly book that we created using the Green Screen. Our butterfly pictures are also on display in the lobby of the school. We hope you learn some fun facts about butterflies as we transformed our students into a virtual nonfiction book!
Mrs. Fenuccio will share an infographic with your below related to the importance of reading. In addition, we believe in the importance of students being read to and listening to stories. I have attached some new virtual libraries for your student to listen and enjoy on any device, at any time. They are linked to the bottom of this newsletter!
Over the next few weeks, we will be begin the placement process for next year. Please understand this is a thoughtful process to create classrooms where every student will thrive in. We do not take requests for specific teachers, as we believe that all of our staff are highly qualified, caring teachers.
Thank you for your continued collaboration.
With respect,
Brooke Beverly
Principal Bryn Mawr School
A Note from Mrs. Fenuccio in the Reading Room
One of reasons I love visiting classrooms weekly for Books & Beyond is that I get to read aloud to your child. I still find joy in discovering new books to share with the students. As your child builds their own reading skills, it’s still important for you to read aloud to them. Not only will it expose them to more complex language structures and vocabulary, it’s a great bonding experience for families. Reading books can expand their understanding of the world and can also be a great way to stimulate conversations. Make this activity a regular part of your family routine!
Notes from the Nurse
Happy Spring!
As we exit the cold and flu season, we will begin to enter the seasonal allergy season.
Here are some helpful tips for managing hay fever:
Have your child bathe at night to remove any allergens on the skin or hair before bed.
Sleep in a room with an air purifier and/or a humidifier if your house is dry.
Refrain from drying clothes outside.
Change your sheets and pillowcases regularly.
Stay inside on days with high pollen counts..
Keep your windows closed.
Wash hands and change clothing after playing outside.
As a reminder, sunscreen should be applied to your child before school. For
school purposes, sunscreen is considered a medication and we would need a doctor’s order in place to be able to apply it here.
Remember to contact the nurse if your child will be absent.
(Call, email or fill out zipp slip accordingly)
If your child has updated physicals or vaccines, please email or fax a copy!

Time for Social Emotional Learning with Mrs. Moriarty
From the Desk of our Social Worker Miss E
I would like to take the time to thank the Mass Cultural Council, for awarding me the Auburn Cultural Council Grant. With this money Bryn Mawr and Pakachoag were both able to see two amazing performances. One from Ritmos Academy in Worcester, MA and another from The ZuZu African Acrobats from West Africa. Our students were able to learn about two different cultures!
The week of April 24, 2023 I will be going into each classroom and reading them the story, The Big Umbrella. During this time we will be talking about different disabilities that are here in our school community but also some that we might see out in the community of auburn. The focus on this lesson is to teach students about how everyone is different and may learn differently, while still being welcoming of all. Students will be taking home a coloring sheet and creating their very own raindrop that will be displayed in our school.
Check out the amazing Art for the Heart display that has been created by students. Thanks to Mrs. Bailey for her art collaboration. This artwork display features painted pieces from Bryn Mawr and Pakachoag students.
It is a pleasure to work with your students everyday!
Thank you,
Ariella Emmanuel
