What is going on....

Thank you very much for coming to our Showcase! I know our kids enjoyed educating you about Round Rock! They did such a fantastic job!

Math: We will begin our subtraction unit this week. This unit includes: solving one step and multistep word problems using a variety of strategies including algorithm (up to 100), solving subtraction word problems where unknowns may be any one of the terms in the problem, and using concrete and pictorial models to compose and decompose numbers up to 100.

Reading: We will be getting back into our normal routine of workshop. We will be reviewing comprehension strategies by introducing a menu style option to respond to daily reading. We will be reviewing our purpose for reading and making sure we are reading a “just right” book.

Writing: We will continue working on friendly letter writing this week. Our focus will be inviting through letters.

Science: Students will learn all about patterns of movement. Which objects can roll, spin, or slide? They will describe objects physical properties and how they affect their ability to move. Also, students will become experts on magnets. They will learn how magnets work, what materials are magnetic, and how we use magnets in the real world. Lots of fun experiments this week!

Sight Words: We are learning the following words this week: around, dear, eyes, found, jump, new, set, too Please continue to work with your child to read, write, and spell these words with consistency.
