Paper Staff Call March 15, 2019
Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy
Head of School
Happy Friday!
Special thanks to those of you who have kicked off our testing season this week with ACT. I understand that there were a few kinks, but that's to be expected when working with technology.
I received this feedback from K12 curriculum development this morning and wanted to share:
Custom Fields
- Activity number and/or Title: None
- Course: Other (please specify)
- Course Name: Everything about LAVCA (and/or K12)
- Date Submitted: 14/Mar/19 3:42 PM
- Feedback Details: I would like to take a few minutes, and describe my gratitude. When I was a brick-and-mortar scholar, I was heavily armored with knowledge. When my grades fell, they came up faster than when they went down. When I saw someone struggling, I would help them. When I was told I was going to do online schooling, I was shocked. "What was so wrong with my old school," I thought. When the time came for school to start, it felt weird not to get up early in the morning. When I started, my grades went up a little, but when they fell I felt as if it would still be easy to get them back up. When I saw that it wasn't that easy, I was worried. When I did get them up, I knew this was just the beginning of my struggles. I was only in 3rd grade. 4th grade passed easily, and now, in 5th grade, I feel like this was my destined school. I want to thank my 5th grade teachers: Mrs. Conatser for being the best teacher and sharing my feeling about Harry Potter, Mrs. Miller for being the awesome ELA teacher she really is and for her alter ego the Queen for teaching this royal subject, and Mrs. McFarland (Mrs. Mac) for helping me because it was hard for her because she is pretty much my aunt. Thank you to all of LAVCA, classmates, teachers and staff. Thank you for your time, Gabe C.

What's the Action Plans?
It’s a living document of assessment, data dig, remediate, follow up, and next steps:
Always goes into your teacher folder and you can just add on to the plan you already have started.
1. Data Dig (where do you need to remediate)
2. Plan (how will you remediate and re-assess?)
3. Follow up (What will you do next?)
4. When can we come see the awesomeness you are doing?
Timeframe: roughly 2 weeks and ongoing.
Testing
Phase 2 and 3 testing assignments will be released and shared on March 22, 2019.
Thanks,
Eric
