Coming Alive In MAY
For those not testing, we are "COMING ALIVE" in the classroom just as hard as we did in August. We want to avoid any summer slide that could occur if we let up too soon! Make sure that we are working hard to create an environment where students are diving in to the content and you are facilitating their learning. At this point in the year, they should be able to run discussion and do a lot of student led learning. Give the jigsaw method another try at this point in the year! By the end of this week, you will be "dreaming with your eyes wide open" for all the possibilities for your students!
Show some love to students this week.Remember my comment in staff meeting about kids that are not looking forward to summer due to their home situation.
I want to thank everyone that took the news so well about staff changes. I did hear some grumbling from a few. Please understand that these were all great decisions for students! Throughout last year and this year, I had time to look at data and think through endless possibilities of who would be the best fit in grades and content. If you have other questions, you can set up a meeting with me privately. Please remember when you speak your mind freely about building topics that there are subs and parents all around. These subs and parents love to let me know what staff member was talking negatively. I will be addressing some of these individuals this week. Please stay positive for the rest of the year! That is what is best for kids and the culture of our school. We have worked too hard to allow some drama by a few to pull us down. If you hear of anyone speaking negatively, please direct them to come speak with me.
*Remember to be respectful during testing in hallways and interruptions :)
*Think about your balcony person and how you could help them during the month of May.
*Be sure to follow testing block schedule- https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CN74aG1wc7U4NKxvhkzwYqVVP17ykMrS5V0upnpWBMo/edit?usp=sharing
*We will be celebrating our cafeteria staff on Friday w/ Super hero day! Please have your class write thank you letters to them to show how much we appreciate them!
