2020 WIDA ACCESS Scores
WIDA plans to send the printed score reports to schools on August 10. ESSA guidelines require that the annual parent notification letters be sent to families within the first 30 days of the new school year. Printed reports could be shared with families at that time. IDOE will monitor the status of school closures and we will communicate any possible changes to this date.
2020 WIDA ACCESS results will be uploaded into the IILP system in early June, and student results will be reflected in their ILP entries then. Keep in mind that only ACCESS assessments taken in Indiana are able to be auto-uploaded, and any out of state ACCESS or placement test data needs to be entered into the system manually.
On July 1, student grade levels will change and EL status codes will update. For instance, those who were in M1 status (monitoring year one) will automatically be moved to M2 (monitoring year two) in the IILP system.
SEL for 2020/2021 School Year
As Indiana schools have faced unprecedented challenges through the COVID19 pandemic, the Indiana Department of Education is providing a Road Map for School Re-entry. This resource is designed to support social-emotional learning for students, educators, and communities. Please see Phase One here.
Mental Health America also has some helpful information for planning for the new school year. The 2020 Toolkit includes a variety of online and printable resources for students and staff.
Indianapolis Summer Reading Program
The Indianapolis Public Library's Summer Program, Imagine Your Story, will begin June 1 through August 1. The program is free for kids, teens, and adults. The library offers a variety of prizes and prize drawings for this year's online program. More information can be found here.
Whay Every Teen Needs
The article found here from The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development suggests that all teens need a "No Nonsense Nurturer." Author Jaclyn Surratt discusses how important it is for a teenager to have an adult champion.
