Open House
I want to thank every family that attended our Open House evening. I know schedules can be difficult to navigate during the evening. The entire evening was a great success. I was encouraged to see so many parents and pleased to see a new addition of our Club Fair to help showcase and highlight different ways that students can be involved. If you have questions about your students progress please check in with Synergy and then feel free to connect with your students teacher by phone or email. Below you will see the information I shared with families in my opening remarks. I focused on general school philosophy in addition to several nuts and bolts. I feel that it is important that you know about our approach to educating your child.
Vision
•Excellence Every Day for Every Lancer
Mission
•Churchill High School will build a community of excellence by:
•Cultivating an environment of equity
•Fostering a diverse culture of lifelong learners
•Recognizing the individual strengths of each student
•Expanding knowledge and developing skills through multiple pathways and programs
Lancers strive for excellence through P.R.I.D.E. (Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Determination, Excellence)
Promises We Keep
Think about it! Each day parents send to us the most precious thing in their lives—their children! Here’s what they want us to promise them in return—
• We will keep them safe.
• We will make them feel special.
• And, we will ensure that they learn!
Fulfilling Our Mission
Our Filter:
1.What do we want students to learn?
2.How will we know they have learned it?
3.What will we do if they do not learn it?
4.What will we do if they already know it?
Accountability:
•Is it good enough for our own child(ren)?
Fundamental Assumption
To have a vision of excellence for every Lancer every day…
•We must believe all students can learn at high levels.
•We must take responsibility to ensure that all students learn.
Building Perimeter and Safety - The outside doors to Churchill High School are locked and not to be opened by students or for students. This is a safety precaution. We want all students and visitors to enter the building through one entrance. Side entrances are not to be opened to students. I recognize the inconvenience, but it is a necessary safety precaution we will take. This is part of our promise to the community that we will keep kids safe. If you have students with zero period you will need to drop them off at the front entrance to the school.
Homecoming - Homecoming dance is October 20 in the gym from 8pm-11pm. Tickets will go on sale next week during lunch, $10 with ASB, $12 without ASB and $15 at the door.
CCR Testing Day
This is a real day of school. All students are expected to attend (including Seniors). Attendance will be taken. Students will not be pulled from class. The only excuse that will get a student pulled from class is a dire and very real family emergency.
Students will be released at 12:00pm Noon. Lunch will be served from 12-12:45pm. Students who ride the bus will need to wait for the buses to arrive (3:30pm) or arrangements will need to be made by the individual family. We will have library/courtyard supervision from 12:00-3:30pm.

Kudos
I would like to thank Lisa Christon and the families who supported the purchase of a new microwave in the staff/faculty lunch room. This new equipment is so much better than the older version we had. Staff is no longer standing in long lines waiting for their lunches to heat up. Instead we have humans sitting, eating, nourishing themselves, and enjoying the time that they have with each other. Thank you so much for this wonderful addition.
Parent Volunteers - I would also like to acknowledge and thank all of the wonderful parents that have been in and out of the front office and college and career center helping out with staff and students. Alana Moyer, Paula Nolan, Danielle Benson, Wayne Taubenfeld, Heather Young, Michelle Krupka, Laura Clendenon, Theresia Kaiser, Susan Van Gorden, Aim Beckley.
Thank you Kim Roellig for your effort and commitment to being present for our Open House. You crammed a lot of activity into your afternoon and made sacrifices to be here on time. I can't thank you enough for your dedication and your professionalism
Dorothy Stolsig is always willing to help and does it with a smile on her face. She will stop whatever she is doing to lend a hand. Thanks to her, our evening events are a success.
