A phrase taken from a campaign speech in which Roosevelt has promised "a new deal for the people." Roosevelt wanted to to focus on there main goals: relief for the needy, economic recovery, and financial reform.


The three R's were the most important to the New Deal. Reform, Recovery, Relief. Relief for the unemployed and poor. Recovery of the economy to normal levels. Reform of the financial system to prevent a repeat depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt said "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."
