The City-State of Sparta

Sparta was a polis during about 500 B.C.E. Sparta valued a strong military and army. Their military was very strong, compared to other poleis. Sparta and Athens did not like each other at all. They were very different from each other with Athenians focusing on education and Sparta focusing on military. Sparta had the strongest military in Greece. Spartans had different education, innovations that influenced modern civilizations, and a war with Sparta.
