Leopard News You Can Use 1.28.22

Good Afternoon Laurel Families,

What a beautiful way to end the week! This winter sunshine was very welcome after the fog and ice earlier in the week. Thanks for sending kids dressed for the weather and labeling coats and jackets so we can get them back to kids when they are misplaced.

Today we conducted a safety drill where we bring all students inside and continue business as usual inside the building. This drill is for practice in the event of threatening weather, or a problem in the neighborhood when we would want no students outside and our exterior doors secure. Staff did a wonderful job of accounting for all students and maintaining a calm learning environment. The drill lasted a little over three minutes.

February is right around the corner and we are focusing on kindness all month long with The Kindness Project. We will be working with kids on the power of kindness, ways to be kind and appreciate others who are kind to us.

As we continue working to keep things running and kids learning, we are occasionally short staffed and have to make hard decisions about combining classrooms for the day, cancelling specialists, or modifying our schedules. When we do this we continue to focus on maintaining physical distancing and appropriate mask wearing. Thank for your support in these endeavors that help us to keep every student and staff member healthy.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Principal Kevin
