4th Grade News!
Check Out What's Coming Up This Week...
Please NOTE: Dates of tests and events are subject to change due to weather related school closings. Please check your child's daily planner to stay up to date on test dates and assignments!
This week we will be focusing on identifying the Author's Purpose in a text. There will be guided reading rotations this week with a quiz on our books on Friday, January 26th.
Students will receive new spelling words on Monday, January 22nd. Spelling test and spelling homework will be due on Friday, January 27th.
Due to the snow day last week, the Math Mid Year Test will be given on Monday, January 22nd. Following the Mid Year, we will begin a unit on Geometry. Students will learn about the different types of lines, angles, and polygons as well as area, perimeter, and transformations.
This week we will begin a new unit on Colonial Life. Students will learn all about life in colonial life, colonial economics, and Virginia's capitals.
This week we will conclude our unit on Plants! Students will have multiple opportunities for in class review and will be given a study guide to complete on Monday, January 22nd. The Plants Unit Test will be on Thursday, January 25th.
This week we will begin a writing informational essays on The Parts of A Flower. Students will be expected to identify and explain the function of each part of a flower.

Parent - Teacher Conferences
Yearbook Sales: January 16th - January 29th
If you did not purchase a yearbook in August on “fee day,” your child will be bringing home a yearbook order form. Until January 29th, the cost of a yearbook is $14. If there are extra yearbooks at the end of the school year, the cost will be $18.
