La Vega Reads

Thank you to Ms. Grigsby for having the vision to get some books for our students to either read for themselves or to read to younger siblings. Exciting news!! Please consider assisting with this effort or pass along the information to anyone who you think would be willing to help.

From Ms. Grigsby:

Thank you to those of you who have helped me get this program off the ground! I have about 75 books to give away already! If you feel moved to help support my goal of getting books into the homes of our La Vega students, please visit my Amazon list, or send books to the high school that were purchased elsewhere. (Make sure to include my name on the envelope - Julie Grigsby.). Donations of gently used books are welcome as well. Thank you! (I am trying to keep books within two big categories - Children's and Young Adult)

Please share...

If you have students who are struggling with the stress of COVID, grief or just with life in general please share the QR code below. Ms. Baggett is our district SEL person and would like to reach as many students as possible. Thanks for being observant of the behaviors of our students.

Instructional Reboot

Teachers please remember to post your content and language objectives daily in your room, as well as placing your lesson plans on the door or directly inside your door so that we may follow along as we are completing walkthroughs. We love seeing all of the great things happening in each classroom.

If you or one of your students could benefit from the resource below please use or share. We had some faculty and students use this resource last year.

Opportunity Culture Corner

We are in full swing with Opportunity Culture at LVHS. The message below highlighted strengths that our Public Impact Team recognized. Thank you all for working to ensure that we are successful.

Please let your team know if you need anything.

Strengths Identified: * By focusing on all four content areas in year 1, La Vega High School is on track to achieve 75% reach by excellent teachers who have produced prior high learning growth. This ensures that by year 3 all students will be able to benefit from La Vega HS’ OC model. * Each Assistant Principal is assigned a content for the entire school which corresponds with each MCLs’ content area. Assistant Principals use this assignment to conduct one-on-one meetings with MCLs to provide on the job development and support. * MCLs are showing ownership of team data as evidenced by the English MCL leading data analysis of the first assessment. This is a result of school leadership matching MCLs’ accountability to the entire team’s data.

We now have all of our students back on campus. Reset and remind students of expectations. We will enforce dress code, tardies, earbuds and cell phones, however, we ALL need to be consistent. Do not allow students to leave during your class. Do not allow students who are not on your roster to remain in your classroom. Please take your attendance each period. Remember to sweep students out of the building using the side exits and the conclusion of each day.

Please take 3rd Period attendance!!!! This is crucial because of funding.
