WEEKLY SIP UPDATES

ACHEIVEMENT

Great first week of testing! Thank you to everyone who helped things run smoothly.

Please make sure you are communicating with parents if students are failing your class. If you need more support, please reach out to guidance or administrator.

ATTENDANCE

As our school community continues to show support and added effort towards our attendance goals, I wanted to share the latest example with all of you. Some of you may or may not be aware that KOE has linked attendance percentage with a student’s eligibility to be invited to the end-of-the-year picnic. This the first time for this strategy, and as this and other strategies begin to become the norm, our student will know and see how committed we are to positive attendance practices. I am so proud to say that our overall attendance has climbed throughout April. We now have 84.5% of students attending 90% of the time. Way to go Knights! Thanks for all that you do. #schooleveryday

BEHAVIOR

The Behavior Team is drafting an Expectation Matrix based on your feedback from the faculty meeting earlier this month. Our goal is to have something in place for the 18-19 school year.

CLIMATE

Climate Committee on 4/24 is cancelled due to a conflict with another event that many of us were hoping to attend. We will share our Climate Check-in data at the next Faculty meeting on 5/2. The Spring Staff Survey will be given during the week of May 7th. This week was picked because it is after the EOC testing window and the committee felt it would be best for teachers.

On 4/26, we will hold our last Parent Coffee With the Principal for the year. Students for FHN members will be sharing much of the same information with them that they shared with those of you who attended the Lunch and Learn on 4/5.

WEEKLY COMMITTEE UPDATE

TECHNOLOGY

The technology committee did not meet this past week. We will be scheduling a meeting in May.

HOMEROOM

The Homeroom Committee met on 4/17. We analyzed the feedback from the PD day regarding next steps for homeroom and are finalizing a plan based on the feedback/surveys/data from this past semester. Our goal is to present information by the week of 4/30.

TESTING

Please note the following reminders regarding ACT testing on 4/24:

  • We will begin the day with a 15 minute homeroom (see schedule below).
  • There will be no bells.
  • All Juniors will be testing until the end of 5th hour (Standard time testing will be in both gyms).
  • The Learning Commons will be closed for accommodations testing
  • Juniors will eat lunch from 12:26-12:50 and will return to 6th hour at that time (there will be an announcement when they are released from the commons).
  • Please encourage your students to be as quiet as possible when traveling around the building on testing day.
