Mrs. Carrillo's First Grade!

My name is Maria Carrillo and I am your child's first grade teacher this year. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Teaching and Learning at the University of Houston with a Pre-Kindergarten through Sixth Grade Teacher Certification. In addition, I am also certified as an ESL and Bilingual Education teacher. I have three years of teaching experience with Dolphin ISD, two years as a first grade teacher and one year as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher.

Classroom Highlights and Reminders

  • We have a Library Day every Friday. Please have your child return due books so they may check out new books.

  • Practice with your child the weekly vocabulary words every day at home. Students will take a test over the vocabulary words every other week.

Field Day

First Grade Field Day will be Friday, March 27. Parents are welcome to attend Field Day. Registration for parents is before 9 a.m. To make this fun event more enjoyable, students are asked to wear their school spirit t-shirt and are recommended to wear closed sneakers. Children may bring a water bottle and snacks. However, water bottles will be available for all the students in my class.
