Colts,
I can't believe how fast Thanksgiving break has arrived. This semester has been a blur full of great progress for our Colts. Yesterday our faculty had a nice surprise from our GCISD central office team celebrating our district's recent award of being recognized as a Top 100 workplace by the Dallas Morning News. The effect of having a positive culture is key because of the integral positive relationships that our staff and students have on a daily basis. Thank you for your continued partnership in working together in a productive way to have an environment where our kids can thrive. I do hope that you have the opportunity to enjoy the holiday week ahead and have a happy Thanksgiving.

8TH GRADE FOUR YEAR PLANNING (ALSO GOOD FUTURE INFO FOR ALL)
Counselors will finish meeting with the last few 8th grade students for high school four year planning by the end of November. Remember, this plan is a working document in Skyward that can be changed this year and in high school. Plus, when the high school counselors come to visit with our students in January, students will revisit their plans and endorsement choices to make any changes. If you want to learn more about 4 year plans, please see the links below. All of this information is also available through your student's Google 8th Grade Guidance Classroom.

8TH GRADE PARENTS:
CMS counselors have met with all but two 8th grade students. They will meet with those two students in the coming days. Students were sent home with a paper copy of their 4 year plan for you to review and you should have received an email asking you to review the plan and sign off on it as well. If you have not done so yet, please sign off on your child’s plan in one of the following ways:
Sign and return the paper copy of the 4 year plan that was sent home with your child
Log into Skyward and e-sign the career plan and the endorsement (you must e-sign in two places)
Email your child’s counselor and let her know of any changes you would like made to the plan or that you have seen and approve of the plan
Collegiate Academy Registration for 2019-2020
Attention all 8th graders interested in Collegiate Academy! Collegiate Academy is an Early College High School that is designed for students to earn a diploma and an Associate's Degree simultaneously, and it's all free. The online application for the GCISD Collegiate Academy at TCC Northeast is now available. 8th graders must complete an application in order to be considered for acceptance as an incoming freshmen during the 2019-2020 school year. This year, students may access the application directly from the Collegiate Academy website! Due to the success and popularity of this program, it is encouraged that every student who is interested in possibly joining the Phoenix Family to submit an application as soon as possible as space will be limited. The Collegiate Academy application will be available online from November 1, 2018 through January 18, 2019. The link to their school website is: ca.gcisd.net. Applications can also be found in the counseling office.
REMINDER – Please make sure that you are checking grades in Skyward. You can download the Skyward app for your phone or for your child’s phone so you can monitor grades.
