St. Gabriel Education Centre
September - the first two weeks - News and Events
Many of you will have noticed that we've opened up a new section at the back of our school. This has provided us with much needed staff and student spaces. We have a new classroom with a new LOFT machine (big fancy screen). We also have some new chairs and are awaiting new desks as well.
You've also no doubt noticed the lack of parking. The city began reconstruction of the upper parking lot a few weeks before school started which severely limited space for parking. Our new parking lot below St. Gabes is in the middle of construction and will hopefully be done soon. This parking lot will be for our St. Gabes teachers and students. We've also purchased a bike rack for those of you who would prefer to bike to school. In the meantime, please continue to park on the street or in the parking lot at St. Albert High. Please do not park in staff parking spots, handicapped spots and please don't block our garbage bins.
We're excited to continue to work with you and your families this year. Should you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your teachers or to me.

Saint Gabriel the Archangel - Patron Saint of messengers
Saint Gabriel serves as a messenger of God to the people. He is one of three Archangels whose feast day is celebrated on Sept. 29. Saint Gabriel shares his feast day with Saint Michael and St. Raphael. In the Old Testament, Saint Gabriel first appeared to Daniel to help him interpret his visions. In the New Testament, he appears again to Zacharias and tells him that Elizabeth, Zacharias' wife will give birth to a son called, John who will eventually go on to be called John the Baptist and he will baptize Jesus. In the gospel of Luke, Gabriel appears again to Mary to inform her that she will give birth to the Son of God and she will call him Jesus. Gabriel is considered to be the closest to God, to the point of being referred to as the "left hand of God". He brings God's messages to us in ways that we can understand so that we can listen with a pure heart and accept the will of God.
A Prayer to Saint Gabriel
who from among
all your angels chose
the Archangel Gabriel
to announce the mystery
of the Incarnation,
mercifully grant that
we who solemnly remember him
on earth may feel the benefit of
his patronage in heaven,
who lives and reigns
forever and ever.
