Payne Athletes Make Child's Day
"I wanted to recognize three members of your girls' basketball team. I was at a restaurant (Barros) with my 3 year old special needs son, and three lovely young women from your team, still in uniform, saw him. He admires all things sports-related, and was in awe. They spent their evening playing with him, and even gave him a small basketball and showed him how to toss it back and forth. They represent the very best in our young people and made his night. You should be rightly proud of your wonderful students."

Partnerships Spotlight
Community Partner: 2020 U.S. Census
Chandler Unified is proud to support the 2020 Census through awareness and promoting the use of the Statistics in Schools activities and educational resources. The U.S. Census count impacts the federal funds that our communities receive each year for programs and services that are critical for schools, students, and younger children, such as:
- Special education, Head Start, after-school programs, and classroom technology
- Food assistance, including free and reduced-price school lunches
- Maternal and child health programs
April 1 is Census Day, so remember to complete your census to help shape your community, your schools, your representation, and your child's future.
AZEdNews launched the 2020 Census Classroom Photo Contest for all public schools in Arizona to help kick start the Census Statistics in Schools Week (March 2 through March 6) with a fun contest for teachers and students to participate and enter to win a free pizza party. Classes can apply now.
Contest details are simple:
- Take a class photo of the Census activity happening in the classroom
- Submit it online with a description of the Census activity
- A confirmation email will be sent directly to you, and AZEdNews will post your photo on AZEdNews Facebook and Twitter pages.
