Find Something Good
Hello Phoenix Nation,
Can you believe that October is almost over?! It seems like only yesterday we were front loading the busy season ahead. We’ve had a good first 9 weeks and the next 9 weeks are going to fly by! We learned a lot about reading during this first quarter and we are excited to refocus and tighten up our literacy block to truly equalize learning opportunities for all our scholars. A couple of years ago Kristin Algier (Heights, director) sent Priscilla the attached video. It has become a favorite. Join us in watching this week. Buckle your seat belt and…. Find the GOOD. “Find the good. It's all around you. Find it, showcase it and you'll start believing in it”. Jesse Owens
With Pride and Joy,

Walk-Through Focus
Scholar Engagement
- Insist scholars articulate their thinking orally and in writing
- Turn and talks are purposefully planned into lessons at strategic times to deepen learning or stamp a key point.
- Evidence of Note Taking Process (Cornell Notes) being used in the classroom.
- HERO is being used to track positive behavior and corrections
When administrators or TLT walk through your room, please do not stop instruction.
Things to DO
iShine Observation Forms: Please remember it is an expectation that teachers respond to iShine forms within 24 hours. You can find forms that are in your queue by going to iShine → Staff → My Profile → Targeted Coaching Observations. Please click the 6-digit form number and respond in the “Teacher Comment” box for any forms that are in Teacher Review. Comments should include your reflections, connections, and questions regarding the feedback.
Parent Conferences: Turn in your parent conference sign-in sheets to your evaluator as soon as you complete parent conferences. Thank you to those of you who have already turned them in.

Things to Know
MOY Observation Window: You received an email from Anne Erickson regarding the mid-year window. It is time for Mid-Year observation and evaluations. In order to understand all of the amazing work that you have been doing in your classrooms that might not be seen by us all the time, we are asking that you fill out your mid-year self-review. You can find these on iShine under Mid-Year Review Forms. Please take the time to answer each question fully with details. Remember that a 2 is MEETING Expectations, this means you are doing everything we asked and meeting our expectations. A 3 is Above Average, this means you are going over and beyond minimum expectations. You must provide verifiable evidence in the narrative if you are marking this number. A 4 is EXCELLENT, this means you are the exemplar and we should get some video of you doing this. When you mark yourself levels 3 and 4, think about what you are doing and the consistency that you are doing it in. If you are marking yourself 3 or 4, don’t forget to include verifiable evidence. Provide details in the box to help the reader understand your ratings.Full Observations will be completed before Thanksgiving Break. Mid-Year Self-Evaluations must be completed in iShine by November 11, 2019 @ 11:50pm.
Doors and Windows: All classroom doors are to remain unlocked during school hours. Teachers may lock their doors when scholars are not in the room. We must be able to see into classrooms, offices, and other spaces when scholars are in there. Make sure your windows are clear for obstruction.
