Parents,

Thank you for another great week at Sycamore. Thank you to all of our grandparents and dads who were able to support our activities this month. Being able to honor you for your superb efforts with our students makes our hearts smile. We hope that you all felt welcome and appreciated on these great occasions. Our staff loves to welcome you and call you family.

As a reminder, please make sure that you are viewing our website frequently for updates and calendar changes. The calendar is in "real time" and will allow for you to stay up to date with our school events. www.sycamorees.org

Additionally, the REMIND app is another wonderful way to stay connected to our school events and protocols should an emergency or situation arise that needs further communication. The sign-in information is located on one of the slides on the left side of our website (powerpoint slide).

Gwinnett County Public Schools is up for accreditation. Part of this process requires staff, students and parents to complete a survey. Please help us gather input from you by completing the survey above at your earliest convenience. We need to have 20% or more participation. Thank you!

CogAT Testing: Grades 1, 2 & 5

All students in grades 1, 2 & 5 will take the CogAT beginning on Tuesday. This test is the primary resource to designate students who would qualify for gifted. It also helps us to learn about how your child learns and thinks. Please remind your child to be calm and thoughtful as they take this important assessment so that we can get a greater understanding of their learning processes.

In Honor of Ebony Johnson, Former SPED Teacher:

This Friday, we had a beautiful dedication ceremony for one of our teachers who formerly worked at Sycamore. She succumbed to colon cancer this past May and fought a great fight. She was a Special Education teacher at our school and only worked with us for a short time during the 2011-2012 school year. In the front of the school near the trees we have placed a beautiful bench there to honor her memory. Thank you for continuing to join us to find a cure.

Lunch:

Please continue to satisfy all lunch balances. Students whose lunch balances are $5.00 or more will not have a hot lunch and will have a cheese sandwich until all lunch fees have been paid. Thank you for understanding this important policy.

Cafeteria Visits:

We welcome you to have lunch with your child. Once you have completed your lunch visit, you are asked to exit the front of the building. Once teachers pick up their students that signals the end of the cafeteria visit. If you would like to visit the classroom, you will have to request a visit beforehand and retrieve a new sticker. We would love to have you!
