Elizabeth enjoys a 'wild' Homecoming Friday Elizabeth enjoys a 'wild' Homecoming Friday

Elizabeth celebrated Homecoming 2023 all day on Friday, Oct. 6, starting with a pep rally at the high school, then a parade through town, followed by a tailgate party back at EHS before the football game. The theme for this year was "Wild Card$."

Here's a big bunch of photos from today's homecoming parade plus a look back at the spirit days from Running Creek, Singing Hills, EMS and EHS.

And a recent update to the calendar: After tonight's homecoming football game, EHS will have a fireworks show.

The Colorado Student Media Association honored the Elizabeth High School yearbook program with an Award of Commendation for the 2022-23 edition of The Relic yearbook. The CSMA's annual Journalism Day took place on Sept. 14 and included an awards ceremony for student journalists and yearbook production staffs. The Award of Commendation is the second-highest achievable award.

Under the guidance of sponsor Manser Kierstead, last year's yearbook staff was brand new with the exception of editor Sydney Kissinger. The award-winning team included: Charlie Crofts, Grace Detter, Leslye Gonzalez, Lannie Keele, Piper Loeks, Kylnn Love, Abigail Meents, Emily Meyer, Lil Mott, Kami Ross, Jacob Stevens, AJ Tichota, Lenore Vault, and Amy Ward.

"I'm so proud of what we accomplished with our yearbook last year," Kierstead said. "Teaching an almost entirely new staff was challenging, but our group worked tirelessly to ensure our book was amazing and worthy of representing our community. It's great to receive this award and recognize the hard work that our class does every year "

Running Creek gets new preschool playground Running Creek gets new preschool playground

Installation work on a brand new preschool playground took place this week at Running Creek Elementary School. Principal Michael Seefried said the new equipment and installation were made possible by a grant secured through the efforts of Preschool Director JJ Van Eaton and District Grant Coordinator Kristen Harris.

This equipment comes less than a year after accessible playground equipment, also made possible by a grant, was installed at Running Creek to ensure all students, regardless of ability, can enjoy recess.

Elizabeth Middle School cross country runner Colin McGuire earned the top spot at the league championship meet.

He started out the season toward the front of the pack in his races, said his coach Kim Hicks, and each week, he continued to push his way to the front of the seventh-grade boys pack and finished the season winning the last three races of regular season.

At the league championship competition, Colin battled the whole race against two seventh graders from competing teams and ended up outrunning them both in the last meters of the race.
