Ship's Log
Week of March 4, 2019
I hope you all enjoyed a SNOW DAY for some R & R or extra cleaning or time to try and get caught up! I love 3 day weekends :)
Let's give Bridget Koetsch a warm St. Anna welcome today. She will be coming into classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday morning to meet students and read a book. She will be sharing the music room with Mr. Beck- if you need to know where to find her.
Remind students to fill out their Kindness Journals and collect them- I will have 'prizes' for everyone that turns one in.
Remind students it is the last week to bring in sneakers!
Did someone have a recognition idea like for the light bulbs and snowflakes? I can't remember but thought we had one for after the snowflakes- which will hopefully have a bigger impact.
Let's keep recognizing students for all the kind and respectful things they do. You can still recommend students for the #GoodNewsCallOftheDay too!
Remember:
- Kids want/need to feel heard
- Kids want teachers who smile and are happy (the same that adults want from bosses)
- How do your students know you love your job?
- Teach every child the way you would want your own child/grandchild taught
- Be what you want to see
- Kids need to leave your class feeling better than when they arrived
What will you do to show that you are a GREAT Teacher this week?

What strategy are YOU trying this week? What gets students running INTO your classroom?
The 'P' in pirate stands for Passion: "Only passions, great passions, can elevate the soul to great things."- Denis Diderot
read or re-read the Passion chapter this week. What are your Content, Professional, and personal passions ad how can you incorporate those into your lessons?
Let me know if you use any PIRATE hooks so we can share with colleagues!
