Newsletter Week 9 Term 3
Shelly Park School - Wednesday 21st of September 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Whānau
The junior playground is now under construction. The old tyres and ropes have been removed and wow, were they concreted in well. The plan moving forward will be to level out the playground area, add in some serious drainage and then start to construct a new playground for our students.
On a sadder note, Smaranda Balais, who has taught at Shelly Park for a number of years, will be leaving our school at the end of this term. Smaranda has been such an important member of our staff and is well loved by all students. Smaranda's patience, kindness, knowledge and leadership will be missed dearly. We wish her all the very best for whatever the future holds for her and her family.
For Term 4 we have employed Edwina Mills and Megan Walters, they will be working in a 2day/3day split. We are so very fortunate to be able to employ experienced and passionate teachers who know Shelly Park well.
On Wednesday next week students will be finishing school at 12pm, due to Student Led Conferences. Kidz in Mind after school care will operate from 12:00pm - 6:00pm.
Enrolled Members: 12:00 - 3:00pm Usual Charges
Collection after 3:00pm is an extra $6.00 p/h (maximum charge $35.00)

Amber Broadbent (Rm 16) recently competed in an amateur swim gala. She raced against 11 year old girls from other swim clubs down at Patumahoe. The event was tailored for development squads. Amber swum in Butterfly 40m and placed 1st. In Breaststroke she placed 4th and in Freestyle she placed 1st. Well done Amber on your amazing achievements.
Summer Uniform - from next term students will need to wear their summer uniform. This means all students will need to wear a named hat while outside. Students can wear sandals but shoes are also an option if the weather hasn't quite warmed up yet.
This will be my last newsletter before the end of term. It has been a busy term with a lot going on. Pod 4 Camp, HPPA Inter School Sports Competitions, Dance Festival, Speech Competitions, School Assemblies, Kelly Tarltons and much much more. Our students have certainly risen to the numerous challengers they have needed to face. We are extremely proud of the way students continue to work hard, look out for one another and have fun along the way. Enjoy the term break and I look forward to a warm and exciting Term 4.
Ngā mihi
