The best part of your child's day!
Jennifer Ashmore, Art Teacher
It has been a fun and exciting year in the art room. Students have learned about and completed artwork in the style of 5 different artists this year. Ask you student about Keith Haring, George Rodrigue, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky. I bet they can share a lot of information with you about these iconic artists.
Some classes are still finishing up artwork in the style of Kandinsky and others have begun making pinch pots out of air dry clay. The children are always so EXCITED to be able to work with clay. It is one of my favorite things to do as well. :)
I am so proud of all of our Challengers work in the art room this year. They are definitely more Art Smart. After all, you cannot spell smART without ART. I hope you have an AMAZING summer break and I cannot wait to share new artists with the children next school year.

Thank you for supporting our Book Fair! It was a huge success. What a great successful school year we have had. As our school year is coming to a close, remember to turn in all library books and take care of any fines due to lost or damaged books. All library books are due back by Friday, May 13th! Have a wonderful summer and remember to READ! READ! READ!
Cristen Dimas, Music Teacher
It's been an amazing year in the music room! Ride Challengers have grown musically in every way and we've had so much fun!
In May, we celebrate the Summer! Your student may come home singing songs or reciting rhymes about picnics, the beach, or summer fun!
The 1st grade Music Through the Seasons program is on Thursday May 5th! Here's some info about that for 1st graders and their families:
Who- ALL of First Grade!
What- A performance of vocal and instrumental music we have learned in music class this year, including some songs from every season!
Where- Sally K. Ride cafeteria.
When- Thursday, May 5th, 6:00pm. Doors open and students report at 5:30.
Wear- Your favorite Sally K. Ride t-shirt and jeans.
Why- Let's celebrate the music that 1st grade can make!
The entire 1st grade will be singing two songs all together, and each class will be performing a "center stage" song. It is all music that we have learned in music class this year. Fall leaves, snowflakes, spring flowers and a summer picnic all in one program! Celebrate the seasons!
Bridget Hodge, PE Teacher
Last month students were asked to bring a photo of themselves being active in our community. The photos will be displayed on our PE bulletin board. We received zero photos, so we are trying again in May!
During Field Day students celebrated the skills they have learned through physical education class. Thank you, again, to all of the parents that volunteered to make this event a success.
