Benninghoven Family Newsletter
Week of Oct. 11th
Vision: A place where everyone pursues their greatness.
Mission: A community coming together for our kids.
It was another busy week at Benninghoven with many days of nice weather to get outside! We enter a 4 day school week. As a reminder, Friday is a work day for teachers and students do not have school.
PTA Butter Braid orders are due this week, Oct. 11th. Thank you to our PTA and families for the support on this fundraiser to support our Benninghoven students, teachers, and community!
Make sure you have signed up for Parent Teacher Conferences. These will be held both in person and in a virtual format. Our goal is to connect with 100 percent of families during this time, as it is one of the cornerstones of our success - communication! As a reminder, everyone must be masked to enter the building.
Below are some details about our Halloween Parade we are excited to have on Friday, October 29th. We are finding ways to celebrate, connect, and be creative as a school community while following the mitigating measures and keep everyone safe. At this time, we will not be having classroom parties. Please do not send any candy or treats with students on this day!
I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend and enjoying time as a family.
All the best,
Anna Jensen, Principal

The number of students being dropped off early is continuing. For the safety of ALL of our students, there will be an increase in the monitoring of this process. STUDENTS MAY NOT BE DROPPED OFF EARLIER THAN 7:50 AM. Please ensure that students are remaining in cars and not waiting in the front entrance without an adult earlier than this. We do not have supervision prior to this start time, and it is for the safety of all students, as well as a calm and peaceful start to the morning entrance when doors open that this procedure is followed. If you are needing morning care or support for the morning, please contact JCPRD for more information.
Halloween Parade at Benninghoven - Oct. 29th
We will celebrate Halloween at Benninghoven on Friday, October 29th. We will host an outdoor all school parade at 8:30 am.
Students that would like to wear costumes for the parade should wear the costume to school and be ready at arrival. Students should still plan to arrive on time between 7:50 and 8:10 am.
Families can view the parade from the outside only, along the circle drive and intermediate playground. All students will exit the building at Door 12 (Pre-K door), walk along the front sidewalk, and then enter the gates to finally return into the building by the music/gym hallway.
The circle drive will be closed for traffic beginning at 8:15 am so guests can stand in the circle drive to view the parade. Please do not park in the circle drive or move cones being used to block the circle drive. Please do not park in a location that is not a parking space. This results in unsafe situations. If all parking spots are full, please park in the east lot at SMNW.
Following the parade, all students will return to their classrooms to continue the instructional day. Due to mitigating measures, families will NOT be allowed to enter the building. Teachers will have other activities planned for the day to celebrate. Students will be allowed to remove their costume after the parade if desired. Costumes that will be removed should be worn OVER clothes, as students will not be dismissed from class for costume change purposes.
Students can wear their costumes throughout the day if they are not a disruption to the classroom environment and the student can still learn while wearing the costume. Inflatable costumes or especially large costumes cannot be worn all day. Students will be asked to remove these costumes for the school day. Face paint also cannot be worn all day. Students will be asked to remove face paint during the school day. The following items will not be permitted during the school day or during the parade:
- masks
- fake weapons
- blood or gruesome effects
- any inappropriate or offensive content
Please review your child's costume for these elements before sending it to school. Administration can exclude costume content on an individual basis and will do so if necessary. Our goal is to have a safe and fun celebration for our students of all ages.
