Ginger, the Elf on a Shelf, arrived at school this week. He brought a treat one day and has been hiding and peeking at them all week. This class has been so well behaved! Everyone loves and adores them and gives us HUGE compliments. Fun, fun, fun!
The FMHS teen leadership kiddos came again and talked with us about character. We played some fun games and they created some skits to show good and bad character.
I am a real ogre about them taking their jackets outside to recess. Thank you for being dilligent about sending them. They may take them off if they get too warm, but better to have it than to be cold. So far we have had a good run of being very healthy. We will just keep washing our hands, drinking a ton of water and hope for the best.
We did complete reading Matilda by Roald Dahl this week. I would love to treat them to the movie sometime next week. The movie is rated PG, so please look up the reviews on it and if anyone objects to watching we, we won't. No problem at all. The version is from 1997 and is very cute. I am ok either way, just shoot me an email and let me know if you object.
Have a terrific weekend!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN LEARNING
Language Arts-We have been very busy in our book clubs! Many kids are now on their 3rd book club book. They had made some beautiful reports with their clubs (groups) that reflect their comprehension and understanding of the story and it's details. We read The Night Tree and we wrote a procedural essay about how we would create a tree to feed the animals in a secluded area for Christmas. It is a great book and a family favorite at my house. We wrote recipes and focused on the features such as ingredients, being specific and sequence.
Social Studies-We have been talking and reading about celebrations, traditions, landmarks and symbols that were started in the USA a long time ago and are still valued today.
Science-We did lots of investigating with magnets. They worked in groups and created a maze to pull a magnetic object through and see how fast they could do it. Lots of fun in science this week!
