WHS Counseling Newsletter March 2021
ACT MARCH 9th info
Our school's ACT Day is on TUESDAY, MARCH 9TH. This ONLINE TEST ADMINISTRATION will take place at West Campus, with students entering the building at 8:00 AM. All students need to be seated in their assigned rooms by 8:15 AM. No students will be admitted after that. Room assignments will be posted on the Counseling Office's front windows on Wednesday of this week.
All WHS 11th graders are automatically registered for the test, so no additional steps or fees are required in order to participate. There is an online form, though, that students will need to complete, where they can select the colleges they want to receive their scores.
** Students are highly encouraged to send their scores to UVU for senior year concurrent enrollment and distance education classes. Use the code 4278 on the form to send them to UVU.
Students who do not complete the online form by March 11th will need to pay an additional fee in order to have their scores sent in the future.
Students have received printed instructions related to the online form, along with their personal ACT number, in their main campus English classes. Online students should watch for information from Mrs. Brown on the process for receiving their code and instructions. And, Wasatch Alternative students should watch for information from Mr. Tree. Absent students and students not in the previously listed groups, should plan on stopping by the WHS library to grab their form/code prior to March 9th.
Utah Women & Leadership Project Event
The Utah Women & Leadership Project is hosting an online workshop for young women titled “More Than a Body: Building Body Image Resilience.” The workshop will be held on Thursday, February 25 from 6:00pm-7:15pm.
The content in this workshop is critical for girls/young women and anyone who influences them (students, counselors, teachers, administrators, parents, etc.). Body image struggles impact nearly all girls/women in today’s world! Our beauty-obsessed world perpetuates the idea that happiness, health, and the ability to be loved are dependent on how we look, but Lindsay and Lexie Kite—PhDs, founders of the nonprofit Beauty Redefined, and authors of the new book More Than a Body— offer an alternative vision. Lindsay and Lexie share powerful and practical advice that goes beyond “body positivity” to help develop body image resilience. In the process, they show how facing your feelings of body shame or embarrassment can become a catalyst for personal growth.
The registration link for the workshop can be found here. This event will not be recorded so each person will need to register online. If Zoom fills up, they will create a live stream YouTube so as many can join as possible.

Home Building Leadership Round Table
Salt Lake Home Builders Association is sharing an event they will be holding for High School students via zoom. 6 of the top builders in Utah will be speaking to students on March 11th! Students will have the opportunity to ask them questions on how they started their business, tips, advice, etc.
This event is going to be limited so the students will want to RSVP as quickly as they can. I have attached the flyer that has all the information. The coolest part is we will have Stephanie Sharp who is a custom builder in Sandy who also is currently managing “The House that She Built” which is a 100% build by women for the 2021 Utah Valley Parade of Homes. This will be huge and impactful for any young girls who have considered getting into the industry. 😊
