Bedford Junior High Newsletter Volume 1, Issue 2
The Best Office Staff in the District!
We would like to introduce the front office personnel that are truly responsible for keeping Bedford Junior High operating on a day to day basis.
From left to right:
Cheryl Horton our registrar handles student enrollment and student records.
Trina Wolfe our receptionist is our person in charge of visitors.
Jay James is the principal's secretary and is in charge of our financial needs.
Carmen Armstrong is our attendance secretary and manages the records for student attendance.
These are an amazing group of ladies that do whatever it takes for our students. Whether it’s always having a smile on their face, working late, or stopping in the middle of a task to help a student. We are lucky to have them as part of the BJH team.
MEET THE TEACHER
Katie Burgess - BJH 2014-15 Teacher of the Year
Subject: U.S. History
Mrs. Burgess is a native Texan and a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington where she majored in Public Relations and Political Science. After graduation she began her working career in the public sector with positions in both finance and marketing. After several years, she chose to follow her dream of teaching and returned to UTA for her teaching certification in Social Studies. Mrs. Burgess has been with Bedford Junior High for 10 years and is currently the lead teacher for the Social Studies department. During the last school year she was voted the BJH Teacher of the Year by her fellow teachers. When asked about her teaching philosophy she says, " I want my kids to know more than just dates and why people were influential in American History. I hope that when they have left my class they are better at thinking critically, they have developed life-long learning skills, and that they are better equipped to function in a world with so much emerging technology."

BJH YEARBOOK NEWS:
Each year, the BJH yearbook includes a special section containing childhood pictures of the 9th grade graduating class. In this section, parents are given the opportunity to show their pride in their student and wish them continued success as they move on to high school. You can share your memories of your student by providing the yearbook staff with your favorite photo and a completed 9th Grade Baby Ad form. You can find the form on the Yearbook page when visiting the BJH website (see the link in the left navigation). You may drop the photo and form off in the front office or email both the form and the digital photo to Mrs. Keneda (firstname.lastname@example.org). DEADLINE FOR PARENT ADS WILL BE FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18TH.
Yearbooks are on sale now! You may purchase a Bedford Junior High yearbook online by visiting http://www.balfour.com/texas/bedford/bedford-junior-high-school/ The cost of yearbooks is $40 until September 30, 2015. For cash, check or money order payments of yearbooks, please have your student visit room C109 to pick up a form.
PARENT HAC (Home Access Center) ACCESS
This secure access requires a confidential user name and password issued to the parent by the school. Parents will need to stop by the BJH Attendance Office with a picture ID to receive their user name and password information. We hope this will assist you in monitoring your child’s progress in school. Please keep in mind grades are posted by teachers within one week of the due date. If you have questions regarding your child’s grades and/or progress, you should contact the individual teacher.
STUDENT HAC (Home Access Center) ACCESS
To reinforce the HEB district core message of "Students are responsible for their own learning." students have been assigned their own username and password for HAC. To access their HAC account students use the district username and password assigned to them for network access at school. We hope this tool will help students to monitor their progress throughout the school year.
Coming soon you will be receiving a onetime SMS message from School Messenger. You must accept and opt in to receive messages from BJH via text message. More details will follow as we get more information on this new feature available through School Messenger.
The BJH Student Handbook and Handbook Presentation are available on the BJH website under Documents and Downloads.
