How They Scheduled Coverage
After parents signed up for a conference time, we tried to give them their first choice and made sure to only schedule 4 students per time slot. Then we divided up our class among the rest of the teachers in our grade level. When their time came up, we pulled them from that class. Each class took a different day of the week.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
The year has been flying by and your child has learned numerous new skills.
We would like to set aside a day for student-led conferences in February. The conferences on this day will be led by your child. A student led conference is a time for you to come and listen to your child share their learning. The conference will be facilitated by the teacher, but led by the student.
We are trying to figure out how many parents are interested in attending a conference led by their child so we can set aside a day. The conferences will take place at various times throughout a school day, so you would have to take time out of your day to come. It should take about 30 minutes.
We will be sending home more information in the near future, once we hear back from you, to set up a specific time for you and your child.
We look forward to seeing each of you very soon!

1st grade's Innovative Approach to Parent Conferences
Students took an active role in leading a conference with their parent during our Student-Led Conferences. They were able to share the progress they have made throughout the year and any goals that they wanted to work on in order to continue their growth. As a bystander, it was wonderful to hear students talk to their parent about their self-assessments, the writing process, reading levels, and their math work.
