Vaccine information

Big picture

COVID - 19 Vaccine Information

The CDC expanded its COVID - 19 vaccine recommendations to children ages 5-11 years old. The Pfizer vaccine has been given emergency use authorization and providers have started vaccinating for that age group.

Getting a COVID-19 vaccine can help protect children ages 5 years and older from getting COVID-19.

  • Vaccinating children can help protect family members, including siblings who are not eligible for vaccination and family members who may be at increased risk of getting very sick if they are infected.

  • Vaccination can also help keep children from getting seriously sick even if they do get COVID-19.

  • Vaccinating children ages 5 years and older can help keep them in school and help them safely participate in sports, playdates, and other group activities.

  • ADDED - Students who have been fully vaccinated (2 weeks out from the second vaccine) do not need to quarantine if they are a close contact as long as they are asymptomatic.

Dear Parents,

Happy Advent! Thanks to our 4th grade homerooms that are leading the daily Jesse Tree prayers for school.

If you are interested in receiving a short daily reflection as part of your Advent practice, I find that the Jesuit's have one that often gives me food for thought. Here is a link:

In December, we focus and learn about the Catholic Social Teaching of:

Rights and Responsibilities

We are called to protect the rights that all people have to those things required for a decent human life, such as food, clothing, and shelter.

Please pray for Pope Francis' intention for December:

We pray for catechists, summoned to announce the Word of God: may they be its witnesses, with courage and creativity and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

One way our school cultivates leadership and service is through the Middle School Houses. For December, John House is hosting a collection for Whole Kids Outreach. Items can be brought to school from November 29th through December 2nd. A speaker for Whole Kids will take the items after our all school Mass on December 2nd.

John House, thanks for your leadership!

Whole Kids Outreach

Make Christmas Special for a child in need!

<November 29th-December 2nd>

Whole Kids Outreach serves rural Missouri children in need. In December, WKO hosts a Christmas Store so that kids can have a great Christmas morning!

SGA will be collecting new toys and other items (unwrapped) for children birth through young teens for the WKO Christmas Store. Every WKO child/teen receives a large, medium, and small gift , so all gifts are appreciated. In addition, cash donations and Amazon, Walmart and Target gift cards are welcome!

Please no items that suggest violence or war (e.g., Risk, Battleship, toy or Nerf guns, etc.). If possible, please mark out the UPC codes with a black marker—this helps us greatly!

Please drop off your toys at Saint Gabriel by

December 2nd

Act of Contrition

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against You, whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his name, my God, have mercy. Amen.

For our level Masses on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we have changed from rotating two grade levels at a time to having one grade level attending at a time so students can be safely distanced. The grade level of the homeroom that is planning will be in attendance at the Mass. The schedule below is updated to reflect this new change. Parents are always welcome to join us for Mass.

PFA Parent Volunteer Opportunity: Christmas Party Coordinators

Calling all K-5 parents! We are in need of 2 parent volunteers per classroom to coordinate and collect materials to be used for the classroom Christmas parties taking place on December 17th. With the current state of the pandemic, school visitors continue to be limited so the coordination efforts would be remote, only, and intended to help support teachers with this fun classroom event. Christmas Party Coordinators are asked to plan and provide materials for Christmas party activities or crafts in coordination with your classroom teacher and the Room Coordinators. We thank you for your help! Volunteer sign-ups will open on the PFA website on Tuesday, November 16th so mark your calendars!
