Message from the Principal
JAJHS Families,
I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season and winter break!
As we enter into a new calendar year, there is always an exciting sense of renewal and fresh goals. Today also marks the end of the 1st Semester and the 2nd Quarter! We plan to send printed report cards home with students on Friday, January 13, 2023. Grades are always available on Canvas using the instructions below.
I also want to take this opportunity to express my appreciate of our coaches, club advisors, and Mr. Moyer. During the winter seasons, these can be long days with a full day of work followed by practices, games, performances, and competitions. From the Spelling Bee and dances to wrestling matches and drama performances, I’m grateful to our coaches and staff for their commitment to providing opportunities for our kids - often at the expense of time with their own families. Thank you!
I hope that you and your family have a relaxing weekend!
Sincerely,
Mr. Malany
Principal

Pioneer Planners
Having a student planner is an essential part of success at JAJHS. Planners are used as hallway/restroom passes. In each class, teachers explicitly share with students what reminders to write in their planners. We believe that developing these executive functioning skills are an important part of helping students grow.
As we enter a new semester, this is a great time to check in on this. Please ask your child to see her/his planner. If it has been misplaced or is not in a functional condition, replacement planners can be purchased in the JAJHS office for $6.00 with checks being payable to “Jonathan Alder Junior High School.”
Thank you for your help with developing this important life-long skill.

Basketball Concessions Sign Ups
Our PTO plays a valuable role in supporting JAJHS students and teachers. One way to get involved is to assist with working concession stands during home athletic events.
Please see the links below to sign -up. The PTO will provide all of the training you need. Parents are able to get into the sporting event for free before/after working their shift. Often 7th grade parents volunteer for 8th grade games and 8th grade parents volunteer for 7th grade games.
Even if your child is not participating in the sport, parents are encouraged to volunteer as a way of connecting with other JAJHS parents!
