NHS Staff Notes
December 10th, 2018
Huge Kudos!
"Good morning,
Please would you could pass on to everyone who was involved in the organizing and running of Mock Congress, how impactful it has been. Thomas is still talking about what he learned, the discussions he had, the compromises he made and how it has helped solidify his subject choices for college. He is very lucky to be in a school where teachers and administrators go above and beyond."
These are the type of capstone and project-based learning endeavors that our students will remember their entire lives, and which impact their career choices down the road. Amazing job, everyone! And huge thanks to all staff for being flexible and accommodating to make this project successful!
MORE KUDOS!
- To Greg Brown, for producing three exemplary winter music concerts, for all of the music programs here at Northgate. Beautiful work by our musicians, with highlights in the horns, bass, and strings sections, and a well-rounded and outstanding program overall! Don't miss the next one!
- To Tessa Eckenfelder, for being awarded the California Retired Teachers Association Grant!
- For Tessa AGAIN- for running an exemplary TUPE vaping deterrent program, with our second Saturday School for student caught vaping last weekend. Tessa, with the assistance of Frau Nancy, ran another successful course, with all but one student reporting that the workshop changed how they viewed vaping. We have seen a sharp decrease in students caught vaping, and only one repeat offender so far. Other schools and districts have asked what we are doing, and Tessa has graciously shared her curriculum. THANK YOU TESSA!!

What you didn't know about Kathy Vose!
Did You Know:
This is Kathy's second year at Northgate High School, working as a resource teacher and case manager in the Special Education department.
- She was at College Park for about 12 years, Sequoia for one, and Castro Valley for one. She also worked as a sub in San Ramon School District prior to this.
-She graduated from CSU East Bay with a degree in Business Administration (thought it would help her get a job versus liking the subject!). Her teaching credential is from Saint Mary's College.
- If money and time weren't a factor, she would love to spend her time traveling.
-She would be terrible at a sales career
- The habit she finds most irritating? Not sure if this is a habit, but she finds arrogance challenging.
- Her money dish for guests? South of the Border Eggs for brunch
-She has four children- I am even tempered/calm and they are mostly mellow also.
-What she loves about working at NHS- Great staff and students.
