Since my last newsletter, we’ve had an exciting week at Centerview and as a Spring Lake Park Schools staff. Nearly all of our staff in SLP have had their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. As we continue to offer more in-person services across the district, this is great news for the health and well-being of our staff. This helps ensure a more consistent in-person learning experience for students and families now and as we move forward.
For any Centerview family that requested a learning model change for trimester 3 last week, we are working through those requests now and will follow up with each family who made a request before the trimester begins with more information.
Thank you to everyone who participated in any of the activities that were a part of Panthers for a Purpose over these couple of months. The finale was the virtual giving event on Saturday which raised more than $100,000 for the Panther Pantry and Weekend Food Pack Program. AMAZING! Almost a year into the pandemic, our SLP Panther Foundation shined in support of our school district and our school community. Beyond the amount raised, I again feel fortunate to be a part of such a giving, responsive and inclusive school district! #SLPPantherProud
Warmer weather, the end of trimester II, and spring break is creeping up on us; that is exciting!
Take care of yourselves as we move into March! Let me know if you have any questions.
My Best,
Mike
Updates for Extended Flex Learning families
Greetings,
The availability of the COVID-19 vaccine for many Spring Lake Park Schools staff this week along with the beautiful weather forecast has given me some extra energy. Spring is in the air and I am looking forward to a fun, engaging and healthy third trimester.
The distance learning teachers and I would like to give a big shout out to all of you who have returned the first set of Wit & Wisdom resources. The next resource pick-up is being offered at different times for different grade levels based on when the new resources are needed. You will receive detailed information from your child’s teacher as the next scheduled pick-up draws near. Thank you!
If your family requested a change from Extended Flexible Learning to learning at school full-time, we are working to honor all requests and information will be shared with you before we begin the new trimester.
The Panthers for a Purpose virtual giving event on February 27 was a success! Thank you for participating and for your support of our SLP community.
Take care,
Kimberly Fehringer

MDH encourages regular testing for youth and their families
As our students return to school, youth sports and/or extracurricular activities, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) recommends that students and their families get tested every two weeks through the end of the school year. While it is not a requirement, regular testing complements other safety measures we already have in place, such as masking and social distancing.
Testing has never been easier – you can visit a community testing site, order an at-home test kit, or get tested through your health care provider. Learn more about the different types of COVID-19 tests. All options are quick and free to you.
By wearing a mask, social distancing and getting tested regularly, we can help limit the spread of COVID-19 and keep our schools and sports open.
For 4th grade families: Follow up regarding transitioning to the 5th grade at Westwood
We enjoyed meeting many of you at the Introduction to Westwood virtual session last week. It’s important to all of us that you and your child experience a smooth transition into 5th grade at Westwood.
If you weren’t able to attend the sessions, we have recorded a narrated presentation that covers grade 5-8 programming.
For 4th grade families: Westwood Student Placement Input forms available now
Westwood Student Placement Input forms for students entering 5th grade are now available online. These forms help give insight to the placement of your child as they enter Westwood next school year. Printed forms are also available at the Centerview and Westwood front offices. Forms must be completed and turned in by May 7. Please contact the Centerview office with any questions at 763-600-5500.
Sledding Fun!
Panthers for a Purpose raises more than $100k
The Panther Foundation’s virtual giving event was a huge success raising more than $100,000 for the Panther Pantry and Weekend Food Pack Program.
“We knew this effort really connected with people’s passions, but we had no idea what to expect,” says Colleen Pederson, Panther Foundation Executive Director. “The results are far surpassing any expectations we had. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who participated, including a record number of sponsors. It shows us once again how special this community is.”
