Love is More Thicker Than Forget
E.E Cummings
Poem Text
love is more thicker than forget
more thinner than recall
more seldom than a wave is wet
more frequent than to fail
it is most mad and moonly
and less it shall unbe
than all the sea which only
is deeper than the sea
love is less always than to win
less never than alive
less bigger than the least begin
less littler than forgive
it is most sane and sunly
and more it cannot die
than all the sky which only
is higher than the sky
Summary
The poem illustrates how love can be thick and thin and can be. It's crazy and it's deep. Love is a way of being alive, and it's so many different things. It's also normal and sane, and it's higher than the sky. But the most important part is that it can never die. The poem is filled with comparisons that contrast, which strikes at the human emotion of feeling love. I don't think love is ever easy or clear cut, which is why I think the poem was written in a slightly confusing way.
Why I chose it?
I chose this poem because E.E Cummings is one of my favorite poets. His poetry is relatively easy to understand, and that's why I like him. This is one of the poems that I've wanted to read and understand. It deals with multiple feelings in one.
Original Poem
love never dies
it stays burning inside
a feeling you cannot describe
if you're in love
you're alive
if you're alive
your love lies
it's crazy and sane
confusing and brave
my love for you is always aflame
Connection
Both the song and Cummings poem deal with love. How love will never die, and that love has many different emotions in one. It can be so many things and it will never fail. The feelings are some thing no one can describe. It describes that being in love is knowing that you are alive, and feelings that come along with it.
