Sex and Sexting Lecture in the 1800s with David Mislin
Howard Gittis Student Center Room 200A
Register here for tickets!
In every generation, parents panic about rampant, out-of-control teenage sexual experimentation. And they convince themselves that their children are far more promiscuous than previous generations. But long before cell phones and sexting spurred modern anxieties, there were letters, and their contents suggest that adolescents’ behavior has been remarkably consistent. In this talk, David Mislin revisits the mid-nineteenth century — a time we imagine to be the height of moral behavior — and explores how technology has changed, but attitudes and behavior have not.

Do you sing in the shower? Join OwlCappella!
Not only is OwlCappella a collective of fellow pop/shower singers, it is also a great group of people that love to sing in regular, public environments, LASER tagging, eating food together, and just plain hang out (like normal people). Besides being a little funky, OwlCappella has recorded three EPs (available on Itunes, Spotify and Loudr) and is planning to tour the Southern US in May 2016! Think that OwlCappella might be the thing for you?
Good news! We're holding auditions on Tuesday, January 19th and Wednesday, January 20th at 5PM in Presser Hall (connected to Tyler School of Art). Please prepare a 30-second solo that shows off your voice (no classical or musical theater selections please)!
