Fun Facts about Pecans!
According to the American Heart Association, pecans are a heart-healthy nut and provide the most health benefits when eaten unroasted and unsalted. Pecans provide more than 19 vitamins and minerals and have no cholesterol or trans fats.

Pecan shells can be used to add a smoky pecan flavor to foods when you grill. You can also use the shells as mulch in your garden.
SAVORY SPICED PECANS
MAKES: 4 CUPS
INGREDIENTS
4 cups (1 pound) pecans halves1/3 cup (5 1/3 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 300°F.
- Place the pecans in a large mixing bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, ground mustard, Tabasco, and cayenne. Pour the butter mixture over the pecans and stir until well combined. Taste a pecan and add more Tabasco or cayenne if desired.
- Arrange the pecans on a large sheet pan and bake for 20-22 minutes until toasted and lightly browned, stirring halfway cooking time to prevent burning. Remove from the oven and cool completely, tossing occasionally, before transferring to an airtight container.
BANANA BUTTER PECAN KABOBS
INGREDIENTS
1 loaf (10-3/4 ounces) frozen pound cake, thawed and cubed
2 large bananas, cut into 1- inch slices
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 cups butter pecan ice cream
1/2 cup butterscotch ice cream topping
1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
DIRECTIONS
- On four metal or soaked wooden skewers, alternately thread cake and bananas. In a small bowl, mix butter, brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon; brush over kabobs.
- Place kabobs on greased grill rack. Grill kabobs, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from heat 3-4 minutes or until browned, turning once.
- Serve with ice cream; drizzle with butterscotch topping. Sprinkle with pecans.
