Belize Barrier Reef
The Belize Barrier Reef is a series of coral reefs along the coast of Belize. With over 70 hard coral reefs, 36 soft reefs, and 500 species of fish only 10 percent of this coral reef has been discovered! Belize also became the first country in the world to completely ban bottom trawling in December of 2010. A large portion of the reef is protected by the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, which includes seven marine reserves, 450 cays, and three atolls. Make sure to get your routine vaccines, and some doctors suggest a Hepatitis A and a Typhoid vaccine because these can be passed by food contamination. Make sure you have a renewed passport when traveling to Belize. For accommodations there are many options but I suggest Royal Palm Island Resort. Now you have all the background you need to explore!
