PDAS Summatives

We will send out a Summative conference schedule soon. Like last year, we will send a substitute to your room so that you can come by the office for your summative. More details to come soon.

Class Placement

Each grade level has received last year's blue and pink cards for your use. We are in the process of printing the new pink and blue cards. We will get these to you by mid -week.

Each team needs to schedule a day to begin the class placement process. Please let me know when you would like to do that. I will have the SPED, 504, Dyslexic, and GT student lists for us to utilize.

Team leads, please verify who will be the GT teachers and who will be the inclusion teachers for your team.

Book Study: Home on the Range

I recently read a book that Annie Daly recommended to me called Home on the Range by Katherine Applegate about a young refugee named Kek.

Kek comes from Africa where he lived with his mother, father, and brother to live with his cousin and Aunt. In America, he sees snow for the first time, and feels its sting. He wonders if the people in this new place will be like the winter-cold and unkind. As he waits for word of his mother's fate, Kek weathers the tough Minnesota winter by finding warmth in his new friendships, strength in his memories, and belief in his new country.

This book gives us insights to a child's experience in coming to the United States and can serve as be a springboard for dialogue about our ongoing support for the refugees.

If you're interested in this topic and would like the read the book --stop by the office and pick one up ( I have ordered 20). It's an easy and quick read so we'll have an off campus book study evening at Shanna Riggsbee's house prior to the end of school. Date/ time to be announced soon.

ITBS

ITBS has been ordered and should arrive next week. As soon as it is on campus, I will get that to you. As a team, you can decide when you will administer the tests. Please check with the APs if accommodations (specific to 504 plans or SPED IEPS) are needed for your students.

Online Registration:

Teachers,

Thanks for working with your students' parents to get the online registration process completed! Nice work!

**A little over 500 students have registered online so far. **

All returning students will register online. You are only responsible for collecting proof of address for each. You can ONLY accept one of the following:

  • Mortgage Statement
  • Rental agreement with all occupants listed
  • City of Austin Utility Bill showing residential address and parent name

(No cable bills, insurance bills, are acceptable. You will need to send these back and get one of the above.)

Please continue to work with those families that have yet to complete the process.

Thanks!
