After a long winter, Spring seems close.... We have been VERY busy since Teachers' Convention and Family Day. Field trips to watch the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, as well as Ski Club and ski dates for students in Gr. 4-6 and 7-9 have been very enjoyable. We also hosted a Gish Day Out to reward out junior high students for positive behavior throughout Semester I. Basketball teams are going strong and all four teams are experiencing growth and success.
Gish staff hosted a very well-attended Kindergarten Open House on February 8. Gish School offers full-day every day, and half-day every day programs in both Global and Cogito Programs.
Parent Teacher Interviews are scheduled for Tues., Mar. 21 and Wed., Mar. 22 from 5:00-8:00pm. Please be sure to book a time with your child(ren)'s teacher(s). Bookings can be made starting at 8:00am on March 14th.
Enjoy synergizing with family and friends during Spring Break from March 24-April 3 inclusive, and remember that Wed., April 5 is Staff Meeting Day. Gr. 1-9 students will be dismissed at noon, and Kindergarten students do no attend.
After Spring Break, we'll look forward to lots of productive learning, including limited numbers of field trips. We are also hosting a junior high "Information Evening" on April 13 from 6:30pm-8:00pm. This is primarily for our Grade 6 Cogito students and parents. We have room to accept more students at SOME grades. In order to be accepted into the Cogito Program, students will participate in a compatibility assessment, just to ensure that there is a good fit between the student and the Cogito Program. Please contact Gish School for more details.
Provincial survey codes are mailed across the province from Alberta Education. Parents, PLEASE participate. We have been told that ALL parents will receive survey information; unfortunately, they will not supply us with the "Random Access Codes" (RACs). We hope that you are satisfied with the Gish School in all regards, and that you'll honestly communicate that public education needs more predictable, sustainable funding. Students and staff will also be participating with similar surveys.

Cogito Uniforms
A variety of Cogito uniform pieces will be sold for 60-80% off the original price at parent teacher interviews March 21 & 22 on a first come, first served basis. Please bring cash, we will not be able to accept credit card payment.
Yearbook Update
2021/2022 Yearbooks
Pre-purchased yearbooks for 2021/2022 have now been distributed, we do have a limited number still available for purchase. Please contact whitney.visscher@spschools.org if you are interested in purchasing one.
2022/2023 Yearbooks
Yearbooks for the current school year are now available to order on Powerschool. Please go to your account, find your student and then click student fees. You'll see the yearbook link there. Order deadline is May 31.
Past Yearbooks
We've also found some Gish yearbooks for each year going back all the way to 2016/2017 and are selling them at a reduced cost of $25.00 each! If you would like to purchase a previous school year yearbook please contact whitney.visscher@spschools.org to inquire what years are available. We will also have the remaining books available for sale at Parent Teacher Interviews, please bring cash. Books will be sold first come first served.
Payment must be received before any books will be given out.
