Dear Everitt Families:
It was such a joy to see so many of you at Back to School Night on Wednesday evening. It was our largest turnout ever for Back to School Night! We apologize for the long lines and are thankful for your patience as you waited for tours and to see and talk with teachers. We hope that you enjoyed the evening as much as we did. It was wonderful to be back together and to connect with one another again. Thank you, again, to the PTA for scheduling the food trucks and providing ice cream treats for all of us. If you haven't yet had an opportunity to join PTA and would like to, there is a link below to do so. The PTA makes a huge difference for our school and students.
The first days of school were a success! On orientation day, we loved meeting our new 6th graders and other new students and it was great to see our 7th graders who learned remotely last year in person! The first day of school for all students was wonderful and we loved having all of our students back at Everitt. The sounds of middle school chatter, laughter and lockers closing once again reverberated through the halls. We've missed those sounds! If your student was mistakenly marked absent on Wednesday or Thursday, Ms. Ronnie has fixed all of the incorrect absences in our system.
Please see below for more information about late start Thursdays, dress code, drop off and pick up tips, school picture day, lockers, and elective schedule changes.
I've been thinking a lot this week about the profound privilege that it is for all of us to be together again. The last year and a half has taught us how much we need each other. At Back to School Night, I was struck by the beauty of all of you connecting with each other and of the students reuniting with each other and the Everitt staff. Our community is amazing. Sure, there are some challenges that we will face as we all adjust to being together again but I know we will face them with kindness and grace for each other.
Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school.

Late Start Thursdays
All students will have a late start on Thursday mornings this year. In the unlikely event that we aren't having a late start on a Thursday, we will let you know. School starts for students at 8:59 am on Thursdays. The late start allows teachers to have time to work with their teams to plan amazing lessons and units and to analyze student data to best meet the needs of students.
If you need to drop your child off at the regular drop off time or if your child rides the bus, our counselors will be here to provide a study hall for them until school starts at 8:59. Breakfast will still be served at 7:00.
School Picture Day!
Elective Schedule Change Requests
The deadline for students to submit an elective change request is the end of the day on Monday, August 23rd. The requests can be made on this google form. All changes will be finalized for students by Wednesday, August 25th.
Drop Off and Pick Up...
I know that school drop off and pick up can be frustrating especially in these first days of school. There are a few things you can do to help us make it run a little more smoothly.
1. Please pull all of the way forward into the pick up/drop off zone. I know it's tempting to drop your child off or pick them up at the top of the parking lot but my engineer husband assures me that things will run much more smoothly if you'll pull all the way forward. (You should hear him talk about zipper merging!)
2. Many parents pick up and drop off at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center or on Independence. This may be a quicker option, it reduces the number of cars in the line on Kipling, and it's a pretty short walk for the kids to either location.
3. You can drop your students off a little earlier and they can have breakfast here at school! Breakfast begins at 7:00. Breakfast and lunch continue to be free this year.
4. Carpool! The fewer cars we have entering the parking lot, the quicker drop off and pick up will go.
5. Please don't pick your children up in the Dominos parking lot. As you've probably noticed, it is difficult to get out of the parking lot because of the line and our local businesses need the parking spots for their customers.
Thank you for your patience with us and with each other as we all readjust to having all of our students back with us. We've got this, Team Everitt!
