Principal Memo
I hope everyone enjoyed the Monday holiday. We had many fun activities this week.
Tuesday students began using the various instruments in their music class. What a treat for the students! I ran into many Project Cornerstone volunteers this week reading in the different classrooms spending time thinking about what makes each child a unique individual. Several upper grade classes have moved beyond the planning stages of Cardboard Day and have begun their builds. It is so exciting to watch them adjust their plans as they begin to experiment with how their designs take shape! A large number of classes have spent time discussing Martin Luther King Jr. in honor of his birthday and some have completed projects commemorating him. As the Lunar New Year approaches this weekend, I have seen many different art projects and books being read about the importance of different symbols used in celebrations.
I am proud to report 192 students from Fammatre have registered for the CEF Read-a-thon so far. It is not too late to register your students if you have not already done so! As of this morning, we had logged over 21,000 minutes read, impressive! To tie in with the Read-a-thon, Fammatre Teachers will be hosting a Literacy Night for 2-5 grade students next Wednesday. Please see the flyer below for more information. We hope to see you there.
Keep reading and have a great weekend!

Volunteer Opportunities
We have some wonderful events coming up that need volunteers to help make them happen. If you’re willing and able to help with any of the following, please email vicepresident.fhsc@gmail.com and Melissa or Desiree will connect with the coordinators. Thank you!
Theater Performance Nights (Feb. 9 & 10): Help needed to take tickets and run concessions during each performance night.
Steam Night (Feb. 16)— Before the event, help prepare kits and materials. During the event, help run a “maker” station, run the sign up booth, and pass out snacks and prizes. Sign up here.
Garden/Outdoor Learning Lab Weekend Workday: At least 20 volunteers for a weekend workday sometime in March (exact date tbd) to repair and rebuild our raised garden beds. Materials, equipment, and training will all be provided.
Multicultural Fair (Mar. 31)—Help needed to create interactive information booths to celebrate the different cultures in our Fammatre community.
Starlight Auction—Two ways to help. 1. Do you have a few minutes in the day to call, email or write letters to help us obtain silent auction items? 2. Like to plan big parties? Help needed to plan our Gala.
Starlight Auction Donations Needed
If you have any connections to Bay Area businesses, sports teams, organizations, hotels, restaurants, services, etc and can donate a good, service or hotel stay to our silent auction, we would appreciate you emailing treasurer1.fhsc@gmail.com.
If you have a connection to a vacation home in a weekend destination such as Tahoe or Napa Valley (or anywhere else!) and can donate a weekend stay to auction off, please let us know. We would appreciate it greatly.
CEF Celebrates Cambrian Kids
Message From the Cambrian Educational Foundation
I’m very excited to be kicking off the planning for the CEFs first ever Celebration of Cambrian Kids. This event will be an in person old school Fete/carnival combined with a celebration of Cambrian, with Music and Art shows, Maker spaces, and creative outlets for kids. This event will take place on April 1st at Price Middle School and will hopefully bring together the whole Cambrian Community. All funds raised will go to the district to further enrich our Cambrian kids in the area of creativity.
We would love this event to be a reflection of our whole community, and as such we are inviting anyone interested in the planning and organization of this event to join in the kick off meeting. The first meeting will take place over zoom, on Thursday, January 26th, and everyone is welcome. We have a framework in place, but welcome everyone's input into this festival for Cambrian Kids and celebrating Cambrian.
Please invite your community to join, its a huge task, but we feel with the support of this wonderful community we can create something special.
Inviting all interested community members to the kick off meeting for the CEF Celebrates Cambrian Kids festival.
