It's Book Fair Time
Dear Parents and Families:
Reading is the most important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is the one you can influence the most. We invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair and experience a celebration of reading that provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to open a world of possible.
Our Scholastic Book Fair theme - Sir Readalot’s Castle: Enter the Kingdom of Books! – surrounds students in the celebration of reading with hundreds of fun, engaging, affordable books for them to discover. Giving kids access to good books and the opportunity to choose their own books will motivate them to read more. And like most acquired skills, the more kids practice reading, the better they’ll get.
SPECIAL FAMILY NIGHT: Friday, September 19 -- Open between Bingo sessions from 7:00-7:45pm.
Book Fair Dates: Monday, September 22 – Friday, September 26
Shopping Hours: Monday and Tuesday: 8:30am – 2:45pm
Wednesday and Thursday (early release days): 8:30am – 4:15pm
Friday: 8:30am – 12:00pm
Forms of Payment Accepted: Cash, Checks* (made out to Dyer Elementary School), Credit Cards
Don’t forget to add in the 6% state sales tax.
*If you send them with a check and you don’t want to write in an amount, just send a note or write on the memo line the maximum amount your child can send. We cannot give change for checks if the total sale is less than the amount written on the check.
If you’re all booked up during Book Fair week be sure to visit the Book Fair online at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/jgdyerelementaryschool. Our Online Fair is available for an extended time from September 15th to October 3rd.
We also need volunteers! Please take a moment to visit our online sign-up sheet and sign up for a time if you can volunteer. We need people to help set up, help sell, and break down the book fair. Go to http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d44aea62ea6fb6-book to volunteer. We cannot run a successful book fair without great volunteers. All volunteers get a 10% discount at the book fair.
Sincerely,
