A Message from Our Superintendent about T-TESS
Dr. Bayyan’s Cultural Competency Corner
In our efforts to reach students from all cultures, this is an interesting info graphic that displays countries, test scores, and student happiness.
Please note where the United States is located and some of the countries where many of our students (and/or their parents) are from. What can we do to catch Singapore????
This info graphic was borrowed from a lesson plan that our own Nicole Vickermandeveloped after her trip to South Korea.
We have a new baby...Everly Grey Feldman was born last Thursday at 11:38 a.m. She is 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and 20.5 inches.

Teresa Reeves Shares a Technology Tip from Her Biology Class
Attached are some pictures I took of my students using the Quizlet Live online game to review for the Plant Unit test. The students loved it and many commented how much this helped them prepare for the test.
This online tool requires the students to work as a team to answer review questions and earn points. Students use their cell phones or classroom computers and work together to answer correctly. The 4-person team scores show on the screen so there is a lively competition going on during the game.
A lot of collaboration and noisy, healthy competition and fun was enjoyed by all!
Reminders from your fellow teachers...
I thought it would be more powerful if you could hear directly from your colleagues:
- Would it be possible to send out another reminder to teachers to please not send students down to the athletic locker room throughout the day? We are being interrupted in the middle of class during almost every period, sometimes multiple times. It just makes it difficult to seamlessly teach class with the constant interruptions. I think they might be under the impression that it is unlocked and the students can freely come and go and are unaware that the dance and PE teachers are being asked to stop teaching to allow them in to the locker room. Thank you!
- I am getting a lot of push back from kids. I am hearing from many of them across my classes that a lot of their teachers let them listen to music. Could we maybe put a reminder in the MM or something?
- Just a reminder that we agreed upon the norm at the beginning of the school year that we would not allow students to listen to music during class unless teachers wanted to allow it during study hall. When teachers don’t follow this norm, it makes it really difficult for teachers that do.
Read Closely if You Have Any Expired Medications
Did you know approximately 25,00 people overdosed and died from prescription drugs in 2014? You can help keep unused and expired prescriptions from being abused. The DEA holds a drug “take back” day where you simply bring any unused or expired medications to a site and drop it off. It is FREE and it is EASY to do! On April 30, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, you can stop by any collection site nearest you and drop off your medications. There will be sites at PSHS, PESH, PWSH and Clark schools this year. I have included the website if you need a site closer to home.
Please consider cleaning out your medicine cabinets and help us fight the battle of prescription drug abuse. Together, we can make a difference!
