What's new at Green Meadows?
Our School-wide Instructional Focus...
Last year, several district teacher teams worked with a group called Focused Schools. Focused Schools is a national leader in education that provides professional development, targeted consultation, and coaching to schools and districts to improve the achievement results and growth of every student. The members of our Instructional Leadership Team (the ILT), surveyed staff and posed the following question, “What skills do we want ALL our students to have by the time they walk across the Minnechaug stage at graduation?” Using the results of that survey and lots of discussion and reflection, we created a School-wide Instructional Focus. It reads, "At Green Meadows School, all students will be able to demonstrate perseverance in problem solving." I will be sure to share more information as we continue to develop our focus and select our research-based instructional practices.
Family Time Continues at Green Meadows
Ask your child what grade level they are paired with this year. Here is a pic of students and staff getting to know one another.
LUSO Bingo and Ice Cream Social
Please join us on Thursday, October 17th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. for a night of bingo, prizes, and ice cream. All are welcome. Students always enjoy this evening.

Does your child need homework help?
Our Homework Club will be starting this week for students in grades 2-8. Please turn in the permission slip if you would like your child to attend. Again, LUSO Credit Union donated a very generous grant to support this program. Thank you LUSO!
Picture Day
School Picture Day is Wednesday, October 9th. Just a reminder to families.
Welcome Mrs. Canedi!
We are very excited to welcome our Instrumental Music Teacher, Cara Canedi. Mrs. Canedi will be working with students in grades 5-8. Permission slips went home with students if they are interested in band (5th-8th) or chorus (6th-8th). Please send them back as soon as you can.
Massachusetts STEM Week
Mrs. Barrett and Ms. Barr attended a professional development workshop on Mass STEM Week. They came back with cool materials and great ideas. Fourth graders and middle school will participate initially. Stay tuned.
Enrichments
We are starting the year with a 4 week mini-session. K-2 will have the opportunity to explore art and nature media. Students in grades 3-5 will have the chance to try Coding Club. We are still finalizing the middle school enrichment. Stay tuned. Middle school students also have the opportunity to participate in Yearbook Club and Student Council if interested.

The deadline to apply is December 15th, 2019. Green Meadows also has a Field Trip & Excursion Scholarship Application on our school website.
What is CARDS?
CARDS stands for Careful And Rapid Dismissal System. It is a commonly used procedure to ensure a safe and efficient dismissal for permanent “parent pickups”. Parents will be given a number placard which should be placed on the front dashboards of their vehicles. This number placard will help us quickly identify the child being picked up. Students will be assigned corresponding numbers. More information will go home in a parent letter to families whose children are permanent pickups in the afternoon.
